Marquette Plaza and Base Management accepted the Commuter Choice Award for Building Owner/Management Company at the Union Depot in St. Paul at a reception luncheon given by Metro Transit. When last polled, 64% of employees within Marquette Plaza use alternative transportation regularly and we are the only building in Downtown Minneapolis to attain the US Green Building Council’s LEED Platinum status, due in part to our large commuting population which puts Marquette Plaza in the upper 5% of all buildings that have tried to qualify for LEED status in the world. Marquette Plaza was one of only 63 other commercial properties attaining Platinum status worldwide for commercial office buildings when we attained Platinum in 2011. Our strong alternative commuting population at Marquette Plaza has directly contributed to decreasing emissions from transportation while improving overall air quality and reducing our carbon footprint. The culmination of all of these things together makes our tenant’s workforce happier, healthier and more productive which makes Marquette Plaza a great place to work!
On behalf of Base Management and Marquette Plaza, we would like to thank Metro Transit and their contributing partners for making Minneapolis and St. Paul one of the best commuting areas to live and work and we happily accept this award that we take great pride in. Congrats to all the nominees and honorable mention winner and award winners today in each category!
